Today was a special day. Today I turned one and learned all about birthday cake and parties and presents. What a fun time I had! Mommy and Daddy didn't have a big party, we just had family over and spent the day playing with me. I was not into the cake all that much. I did stick my finger in it and lick it, but I didn't have to much interest to eat or smash it. In fact, I didn't start to smash the cake until I was tired of it being on my tray and I tried to push it away and then I made a mess. Although, I am great at opening presents. I can open them with no help at all, it just takes me some time. My two favorite things that I own were brithday presents. They are my ball pit and my power wheels ATV. We had a great day!
Now that I am one, there are so many new things that I am exploring and learning to do. I really enjoy stacking anything and everything and then knocking it down. I can even properly use my nesting cups and put them all inside of each other the right way. I have learned what the word push means and it only takes Mommy and Daddy to show me once where to push things and I can turn them on and off by myself. My favorite thing to push is the start button on my power wheels. I can do it all by myself and off I go. I just haven't figured out how to stear yet but I am trying. I also like riding on my push car. I use my legs to push myself across the room with out any help. I can dance to music by stomping my feet and bobbing my head and sometimes I even just dance when there is no music just to dance. I am really starting to learn the proper use of every day items. I will pretend to comb my hair with my play brush, I pretend to put on lipstick with my play lipstick, and Mommy and Daddy like it when I pretend to talk on the phone. I use my Elmo phone and I can hold it to my ear and listen. I am able to take the large nob puzzle pieces out of thier spots and I can put them back in again the right way. I love to climb on everything like the couch and boxes and my rocking horse. I even put my cowgirl hat on all by myself to play. And when I want to get up on something like the couch or be held I say "up." I have many other words too, like duck, ball, apple, doggie, MadMad(my friend Madison) Tyson, Momma, Dadda, outside, Tista (my teacher) and circle. If you ask me where the circle or apple is in a book, I can point to them. I can find your nose if you ask me to point to it as well. I still really enjoy books and I am so gentle with flap books. I enjoy lifting the flaps to see what is under them and then covering it up again...its so much fun! Lastly, I started in my new classroom this week and it is taking some adjustment but I like it none the less. I get to play outside on the slide and swings everyday. I have lots of new friends and I am learning to use my words and sign language. If you ask me to use gentle touches or nice hands, I will softly stroke your hand or face and I am learning my friends names as well. We sleep on cots and I can fall asleep on the cot all by myself although I am only sleeping for about 1 hour and a half out of a 2 hour nap period. I am learning to use a spoon and plate like a big girl and we even sit in big girl chairs at the table. However, my most favorite thing of all at school and at home is giving hugs and kisses!
This year went really fast and I am so excited for the next year of milestones. What and exciting adventure.
